We have arrived!

Montreal was a fun stop and even though we didn't see everything, what we did see was great. One thing we noticed right away upon entering Quebec is that they don't waste money providing signs in English along side the French like in Ontario. Either it's obvious or you figure it out. We both took French in high school, but don't think that was very helpful. A map was the best tool we could have.

We opted to stay in a local RV park instead of the usual commercial KOA or other Good Sam park. After leaving the highway we drove a few km to the little village of St. Philippe and followed the signs to the park through neighborhoods and into the countryside beside corn fields.

The sites in this park include a paver-stone patio, glass table and chairs, and a glider swing.

Across from our site was the kids' play area with a cool water sprinkler area that was really popular in the heat.

We drove into Montreal, about 20 miles away, to see what we would want to come back and see without the dogs the next day. Just driving around the old part of the city was fun.

There are lots of bridges crossing into Montreal...no tolls on any of them.

We got lost a few times and ended up on this bridge along side a train going the same way.

Then the road took us back underneath the same bridge and train,

Interesting looking apartments or condos.

The next day we toured the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal.

Found some interesting flower displays.
This one celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the summer Olympics.

This one depicts the metro system.

The little streets with shops and restaurants reminded me of Italy.

We drove to the Olympic park,

This road took us through a tunnel under the river.

A huge amusement park was opposite the city of Montreal. We would have like to spend more time exploring Montreal and would really like to come back some day.

Back in the states. Our 6th border crossing. This one was easiest of all.

These hikers were near the Appalachian Trailhead.

Maine is very mountainous here and full of small lakes.

Lunch stop.

Staying at Palmyra RV and Golf Resort. Gotta get some golfing in sometime! Will start the genealogy part of the trip here. More to come.
